8A-District 6 at Plant City
Durant senior Frankie Martinez earned his third win of the season, tossing five innings for the Cougars in a district tourney win against East Bay.

Coleton Brogden's RBI single got things started in the first inning, and then Durant added four unearned runs in the second, and three pitchers took care of business for the Cougars in its opening round, district tournament win. Senior Frankie Martinez allowed one run in five innings of work, getting a little wild with four hit batters, but striking out six. Dalton Marsh pitched one-plus innings, allowing one hit before Sean Hermann recorded the final three outs. Carson Darrow was 2-for-3 for the Cougars scoring once. Durant will take on top seed and host Plant City on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

7A-District 8
King senior Zarrian Brinson had a pair of doubles, an RBI and run scored in the Lions district quarterfinal win. 

King 5, Chamberlain 4

King took the lead early and held off Chamberlain in its district quarterfinal win. Matt Johnson's two-run single got the Lions going, but it was his relief pitching that keyed the win. Johnson in the sixth, as King held a one-run lead and Chamberlain threatened with runners on the corners, and recorded a strikeout and groundout to preserve King's one-run lead. Senior Zarrian Brinson had a pair of doubles in the game, and scored what would be the deciding run in the third inning on an error. For Chamberlain, Justin Santiago was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI, and David Cornelio had an RBI triple. King faces Leto on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the district semifinals at Gaither's Frank Permuy Field.

Jose and Johnathan Figueroa each singled to start off the home seventh for Tampa Bay Tech, before Elijah Dukes tied the game with a double and Arquon Carter's ground ball single to right walked the game off for the Titans. TBT faces top-seed Lennard at home in the district semifinal on Tuesday.

Jefferson sophomore Miguel Denson earned the win on the mound striking out nine as the Dragons won a mercy-rule victory over Spoto. Denson added a double and two RBI to his day at the plate, while Jaiden Duarte and Alejandro Montada also had a double and RBI in the win. Jefferson squares off with Robinson in the district semifinals Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Sophomore Marques Smith tossed six innings, allowing just one earned run to lead Middleton to a district quarterfinal win. The Tigers will face top-seed Jesuit tomorrow at 5 p.m. from Jefferson.
