Class 9A-District 8 Championship

Palm Harbor 3, Alonso 2

Hunter Mink held Alonso to just two runs across 4 1/3 innings, while striking out six to lead Palm Harbor to a district title over the Ravens. Andy Booth worked the rest of the way allowing just one walk to earn the save. Alonso got on the board in the second inning as Drew Lara hit a triple and was driven in by Iholsean Montes, but three costly errors and a Tanner Mink RBI single gave the Hurricanes three runs third and PHU held on from there. Alonso added a fifth inning run as Sehjin Daley singled in Nick Gonzalez, but despite loading the bases the Ravens failed to scratch across another run. Alonso goes on the road against Vero Beach next Tuesday in Region quarterfinal play, while Palm Harbor hosts Ft. Pierce Central.
