Freedom jumped ahead early in the first few innings highlighted by RBI singles by Jeremy Carrick (2-for-5, double, two runs), Brylan West and Andrew Wise. And the Patriots were able to hold off a late rally by the Chiefs to get an opening game win. For Chamberlain, captain Brayden Moyer doubled in a run in the sixth, Johnny Walker was 3-for-3, with a stolen base and three runs scored, and Dontavious Johnson drove him in with a triple.

King 11, Armwood 2

With a 1-0 lead after the first, King put things out of reach as Addison Barger cracked his first of two triples in the win to right field to drive in three runs. Barger finished with five RBI total, while Hishaam Shafig, Jamarcus Lyons and Jacob Cordell each doubled for the Lions. Armwood got a double from Trevor Finan in the loss.

Plant City kept its undefeated run going by getting ahead of Brandon early and keeping the Eagles off the board. Jarod Wingo allowed just three hits and struck out eight to earn the win for the Raiders, while also going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Demario Williams doubled, scored one and had an RBI, Hunter Emerine and TJ Gayner each had RBIs as well. George DeLeon doubled for Brandon in one of just four hits.
